Our New Patient Journey
You will see some changes when you arrive for your next appointment. We have made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. Due to the current COVID19 pandemic, we are limited in the types of treatment we are able safely offer patients during this time.
If you are unwell for any reason it is better to not come to the Dental Practice. If you suspect you have symptoms of COVID-19 please stay at home and follow NHS guidance.
Before your appointment:
Our reception team will call you to complete as much of the necessary administration as possible before your visit, and to answer any questions.
Preparation at home: In order to reduce time spent in communal areas we kindly ask you to:
Clean your teeth at home as it will not be possible for you to do so at the surgery
Toilet facilities will be temporarily unavailable for patient use, so please use the facilities at home before your appointment.
Do not bring anyone with you if this can be avoided. If a family member drives you to the practice, they should wait in the car. It is acceptable to bring one carer if necessary. Please inform the practice if a carer will be accompanying you so we can make provisions for this. You and your carer will need to undergo our COVID-19 risk assessment before we can let you enter the building.
We ask that you pay for your appointment before you leave the practice. We only accept card payments at this time.
Please complete any paperwork such as consent forms and medical histories at home before your appointment where possible.
Please bring your own face masks or covering to wear when you enter the building. Do not bring any belongings other than keys, phone and a form of payment.
On Arrival:
Try to arrive in a cool and calm fashion. Don’t run, rush or cycle too fast to your appointment as your body temperature will be raised and you would appear feverish which could prevent you from being treated.
On arrival the surgery door will be locked. Please phone us to say you have arrived and please stay in your car or outside the building.
Our receptionist will call you when our team are ready for your appointment. Our nurse will greet you at the door and welcome you in. Please refrain from touching any surfaces unless it is necessary to do so.
You will be prompted to wear your mask if you aren’t already doing so, and asked to use a hand sanitiser rub.
You will be asked some questions to confirm you have no symptoms of Covid19. We will then take your temperature using a contactless thermometer. If you are feverish we will ask you to rebook your appointment.
Many of us looking after you will also be wearing various levels of PPE but we are likely to be wearing a mask as we greet you. This is because we will be closer than 2m. If a carer is required to accompany you, they will also go through the same arrival procedure.
Your Appointment:
We will invite you straight into the dental surgery that will have been prepared to provide a safe environment for you.
We will ask you to place your personal belongings in a plastic box or on a chair.
You will be given an extra large dental bib to protect your clothes plus a tissue to hold throughout the appointment so you are prepared to catch any sneezes or coughs which will help keep the surgery environment clean.
When we are ready to start your treatment, we will ask you to remove your mask and put it in the bag provided.
At the end of your procedure you will be asked to put your facemask back on before leaving the surgery. Please continue to wear your mask until you have left the building.
We will ask you to go to reception to pay using your debit or credit card. You will notice that our Reception team are now behind a screen to protect their work environment.
Please remember that our limited service at this time is for the safety of both you and our staff. Thank you for your patience!
